12 Entry to Courses
Students
should note any course pre-requisites or special conditions for the subjects
they wish to apply for. Selecting Your Course

All Year 12 students should
undertake a course of study in 6 subjects. Subjects may be chosen from Year
Levels 9-12. Decisions should be
made in consultation with your year level Dean and staff responsible for
subjects you choose. Your year
level Dean must approve your final course choices. ·
A course of study in English is
compulsory for all students, the appropriate course is to
be discussed with your year level Dean or HOD English. ·
The range of subjects available to
Year 12 students is wide. All
courses are approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and give
students an opportunity to study subjects that interest them and to secure a
well-balanced education. ·

at this Level
Sixth Form
Certificate
- a single
subject award assessed on a 1-9 scale is currently the main award at Year 12.
It is due to be phased out at the end of 2002 and replaced with level
awards for National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 2. National
Certificate Unit Standards students
gain credits which accumulate towards National Certificate Qualifications in
such areas as Computing, Tourism, Hospitality, Design Technology and many others
the credits students earn can be taken on to further education or workplace
training. NCEA Level 1
You may wish to
study one or more subjects at this level It
is an expectation that all senior students will enter for the qualification
offered in each of the subjects they are studying i.e: Unit Standards,
Achievement Standards, Sixth Form Certificate, University Entrance or
University Bursary.
