ARTS PRACTICAL ART NCEA Level 1 J
Who can enrol? Those who have successfully completed Year 10 Art at
HOD discretion. J
Costs: Course fee $15. Students will be expected to purchase
their own paint and brushes. J
Course
outline: Initially the course concentrates on students
developing essential drawing skills. Students
investigate picturemaking/composition in a variety of mediums.
The year progresses with students working through a series of assignments
involving painting/printmaking and sculpture.
In addition students will research relevant Artist role models relating
to the assignments. J
Assessment: NCEA Achievement Standards J
This
course leads to: NCEA Level 2 Practical Art & NCEA Level 2 Practical
Photography. J

Who can enrol? Any student who has successfully studied drama at Year
10, or in consultation with the Drama teacher. J
Costs: Nil J
Course
outline: Study of acting, improvisation, theatre and stage
craft. A mainly practical course
which requires a high degree of commitment. J
Assessment: NCEA Achievement Standards J
This
course leads to: NCEA Level 2 J

MUSIC
J
Who can enrol? Any student who has successfully completed a Year 10
Music course, or in consultation with the Music teacher. J
Costs: Students are to supply one audio tape and one video
tape. J
Course
outline: The major focus of this course is Performance Skills.
Composition skills, set work studies and theory/aural tasks make up the
remainder of the course. J
Assessment: The Performance aspect is worth 40%.
In addition there are composition, musical knowledge and aural tasks
which are assessed at regular intervals throughout the year. J
This
course leads to: NCEA Level 2 Performance Music. J
