outline: Students will undertake a series of modules which will

& Job Search/Employment Rights .
Career
Planning .
Social
& Co-operative Skills including Health & Safety, Communicating &
Assertiveness, Listening Skills & Anger and Stress Management .
Financial
Literacy Skills including Budgetting, Flatting, Credit, Insurance, Tax etc .
A
Work Experience Module .
May
also include Learner Licence and First Aid courses J
Assessment: Some modules will be Unit Standards based.
This will enable students to gain credits towards NCEA Level 1. This course leads to: Further NCEA or Unit Standards study. Other Pathways courses. J

Scheme (NZ) - 2 Bronze Award A new innovative
way to learn J

Costs: YAS workbooks $20.00 and certificate costs (yet to be
determined). J
About
the Scheme: This scheme offers a progressive series of awards at
Bronze, Silver and Gold levels and is an imaginative way of assisting students
to develop personal and social confidence and increase achievement and self
esteem. It was developed in the
United Kingdom by a group of teachers, trainers and employers and has been
adapted for New Zealand students. J
Course
outline: Each award will contain a choice of self paced
challenges which will help students become more skilled at: E
Working with others E
Communication E
Problem solving E
Improving own learning E
Information technology E
Application of number Students will need to provide evidence to prove that
they have completed their challenges. Evidence
can come in all forms such as written, photos, certificates, audio or video
tapes, tickets, references, etc. The challenges cover the areas of Information Handling,
The Community, Sport & Leisure, Home Management, The Environment, Number
Handling, Health & Survival, World of Work, Technology, Wider World,
Expressive Arts, Maori and Beliefs & Values. J
Assessment: Credits towards the Youth Award Scheme Certificate
(Bronze/Silver). This course leads to: YAS Silver/Gold Award J
