PRACTICAL ART - Painting/Printmaking

 

Bursary

 

J    Who can enrol?

Those who have 6 or better in SFC Art.

 

J    Costs:

Course fee $15.

Students will be expected to purchase their own paint, paper and brushes.

 

J    Course outline:

This course is designed with the purpose of producing a portfolio for the Bursary examination.  It also aims to cultivate a mature, systematic and regenerative attitude, towards the production of art works.

 

J    Assessment:

UB (externally moderated).

 

J    This course leads to:

University Entrance - Fine Arts Degree, craft/design.

Polytechnic course - Visual Communication courses, Art Foundation Certificate.

PRACTICAL ART - Photography

 

Bursary

 

J    Who can enrol?

Students who have completed the SFC Practical Photography with 5 or better.

 

J    Costs:

Students must purchase their own materials (approximately $300 for the year).

 

J    Course outline:

This course is designed with the purpose of producing a portfolio for the Bursary examination.  It also aims to cultivate a mature, systematic and regenerative attitude towards the production of photography.

 

J    Assessment:

UB (externally moderated).

 

J    This course leads to:

Photo Journalism

DRAMA

 

Higher School Certificate

 

J    Who can enrol?

Must have a 5 or better in SFC Drama.

 

J    Costs:

Nil

 

J    Course outline:

Study of acting, directing, improvisation, theatre and stage craft.

Mainly practical course which requires a high degree of commitment.

 

 

J    Assessment:

Internal achievement based.

Higher School Certificate

 

J     This course leads to:

Profession in theatre or amateur theatre, dealing with the public.

Public speaking.

Personal development/lifeskills.

MUSIC

 

Bursary

 

J    Who can enrol?

Any student who has successfully completed a Year 12 music course, or in consultation with the Music teacher.

 

J    Costs:

Students are to supply one audio and one video tape.

 

J    Course outline:

Students have the option of specialising more in either the Performance or Composition aspects.  All students undertake studies of major musical works throughout the year.

 

J    Assessment:

Performance and composition aspects make up 60% with an end of year external examination making up the remaining 40%.

 

 

J    This course leads to:

Tertiary music courses such as Level One of a University Music Degree or a Polytechnic Music Diploma.
