FUTURES STAR COURSES
STAR courses are non-conventional subjects, some of
which can't be studied in a normal school programme. They are provided by "outside" institutions in many
cases eg: Tai Poutini Polytech, Open Polytech, Nelson Polytech, Muritai
Training, Telford Rural Polytech, as well as by the school and can be studied at
either Year 12 or Year 13. The School will pay the cost of the course.
You do the work during class time or study periods and you get Units
towards a National Certificate in most cases.
Some students may need to arrange work placements each week to help with
course studies. A whole year STAR course will replace one school
subject for the year. A range of courses are available for 2002.
